Organic Swiss Chard Seed Growing Information

Direct Seed or Transplant: Start seeds indoors 4-5 weeks before desired transplant date, after last heavy frost, or direct seed after last heavy frost. Soil temperature for germination is 45-75° F.
Spacing: Seeds 6-8" in rows that are 18-24" apart for bunching. For baby leaf, direct seed in rows or bands that are 4” apart at ½" depth.
Growth needs: Swiss chard grows best in cooler temperatures. Overwinters in mild climates.
Harvest: When leaves are of desired size, harvesting often to encourage new growth.
Storage: Dunk or wash with cold water quickly after harvest to prevent wilted leaves. Store in bags in cooler at 36° F with 95% relative humidity for 7-12 days.
